The popular TV series, Power Rangers, was first premiered in 1993 on Fox Kids involved a group of kids who become superheroes. The original series also spawned the feature film Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, released by 20th Century Fox on June 30, 1995. Then in the 2000s, the franchises of the series was aired on Disney-owned channels.

The Paramount Pictures decided to develop a reboot of the film Power Rangers for the big screen, and made an early negotiation with Netflix series “The End of the F***ing World creator, Jonathan Entwistle and the screenplay is being penned by Patrick Burleigh from ‘Peter Rabbit 2,’ and ‘The Runnaway’. The studio already made some changes for its casting who’ll be making up the Mighty Morphin team.
The studio is reportedly eyeing an Asian actress for the role of the Pink Ranger. Unlike Yellow Rangers in every Power Rangers and Super Sentai series, the Pink Ranger is always female except one, and their spandex suits almost always have skirts as well with the exception of Power Rangers S.P.D.
Kimberly is best remembered as a fictional character from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The original pink ranger was played by actress Amy Jo Johnson.

This won’t be the first time an Asian actress has played the role of the Pink Ranger. Patrica Ja Lee portrayed Cassie Chan in Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers In Space and a brief appearance in Power Rangers: Megaforce, while Erika Fong played Mia Watanabe in Power Rangers Samurai.

There are many talented Asian actresses that suit to play the role of the newest Pink Ranger for its reboot, it could be Mulan’s Yifei Liu, Deadly Class‘ Lana Condor or Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘s Kelly Marie Tran or other top-notch talents. We’ll never know until their latest update.
